Cloakroom | Roundwood Lane

This Lindfield cloakroom sits tucked under the stairs — an awkward, easily-forgotten space in most homes. The client's brief was simple: make it a jewel box. Her favourite colour, blue, and a love of marble were the starting point for a small room built to stand out rather than apologise for its size.

The panelling is hand-painted in Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue, with a wallpaper above in Farrow & Ball's Atacama print — built up in layers of paint at their Dorset factory in the same way paper was decorated in the eighteenth century, its background tinted to Stiffkey to match the panelling below and its pattern picked out in silver to sit with the marble tones. The ceiling is finished in Farrow & Ball Ammonite. A bespoke curved vanity in solid timber, with frosted glass doors, was drawn to fit the corner exactly. Carrara honed marble tops and upstands sit above it, and the floor pairs a Carrara honed border with a Carrara and Calacatta herringbone. A Duravit Architec basin, Tavistock Ashmore taps, and a Burlington high-level WC complete the room.
